Well, if you look at what he was referring to, he's RIGHT. There are many news paper captions that read, families looting grocery stores under black people pictures, and a family FINDS groceries under white people pictures.
Do you think if there were 40,000 white people in New Orleans trapped it would have taken the feds 5 days to get to them. You think if this was maryland, virginia, california, new york. For the most part, from what i've seen, there are people taking necessities, and people taking shit like mink coats just to have. I don't blame races, as a few in all are to blame for some of this, but from what i've seen the captions of the pictures tend to relate to what is being taken at the time of the picture.

A lot of it, as well, comes down to human nature and just being fucking realistic. The majority you see down there are black.... so the majority of shit you see being taken will be taken by BLACK people. Blame the reporter if he slants it, don't get mad at whitey, because most of us (at least the reasonable ones) are over the shit already and could give a fuck. Increasing the tension and trying to rally one race against another at this point is simply not the sort of thing we need right now. All races are involved in the recovery process, and you see on the news that they are NOT being selective in these boat recoveries, etc. Some of you people need to chill the fuck out and quit adding to the madness thats already going on down there.

You dont know what you are talking about. There were thousands of white people stranded and dying in St Bernard parish and they received no federal help. The only people helping them are fisherman and St Bernard cops.

I think it is very disrespectful for the victims, and the people who organized the event. I broke down in tears because that asshole wanted to use a time of trying to help people as his 15 minutes of political soap box fame. Fuck you, asshole. It's not about what he said or what he believes, it's about it being neither the time or place for it.

He took the attention off helping those in need and put it on politics. Forget about that for now. Yes, it is a disgrace how slow the government was to respond, but for right now let's get the shit moving and save people and focus on the politics of it later. They don't have time to bicker, and Kanye West should have found a more appropriate time and place to voice his opinions.

And Matt (Netfuel) - why would you love what he did? Didn't your family lose everything? That show was to help people like your family and my family, and that ass took the attention away from that. You know what is in the news today? Not the money the program raised, but what that asshole said. You can agree with him, and I am sure some do, but that was not the place to express his opinion. I'm sure many people turned the tv station after he said that, which lost money for the Red Cross to help. Fuck him.

man, i still dont think people get it though, this is a racial issue. you can look at income statistics, the average american of european descent has a higher annual income than the average american of african descent, or latino descent. That is why there were people staying in new orleans, many could simply not afford to leave. I heard people say "We told them to leave, we told them to leave. Its their own fault." Thats like telling a homeless person who has spent some time on the street to "get a job." Do you think a business is going to hire someone in that unfortunate situation? Probably not.

The anger happening here is a culmination of many issues that underprivileged people have endured through time. priviledged people suffer through this too. what i would like to see is people start to realize that we are all truly one, and that we are a chain. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And as long as we have people discouraged, living on the streets, killing each other, etc, that it is not only those that seem to be immediately involved that suffer, we ALL suffer.

i hope that through this crisis maybe some real change occurs.
